Job Title: Electrical Engineer – Laboratory Director/Manager

Job Description 

The Electrical Engineer will act as Laboratory Director/Manager and will be responsible for establishing and maintaining the policies of the Laboratory Quality System to ensure compliance to UL, ETL, Energy Star, and ISO/IEC Standards, ULData Acceptance Program (DAP), and IntertekData Acceptance Program (SATELLITE). Plans and monitors the work of the laboratory and its personnel to ensure compliance of good laboratory practice. Establishes, maintains, and implements control policies. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Responsible for being anAuthorized Signatory. Please see below forAuthorized Signatory responsibilities. 
  • Work 6 Sundays annually upon request whennecessary.
  • 5 total days off – 3 sick days and 2 vacation days
  • Design and communicate with International Purchasing to sort out details for labeling the products.
  • Updating UL, DLC, JA8, Energy Star labelson products,product packaging, and listings of Elite products on the organizations’ websites. 
  • Updating UL files with new components and drivers.
  • Daily visits tothe in-houseproduction to ensure quality. 
  • Product testing.
  • Continuously trainproduction, customer service, assembly, and purchasing on the basics of products, as well as with new products and technical issues 
  • Update photometry, BOMs, cutsheets, and websites.
  • Evaluateproducts and samples as they arrive from China andensure products are added to Elite’s product line once testing is successfully concluded. 
  • Manage and oversee all laboratory personnel.
  • Ensure competency of all laboratory personnel with established training program.
  • Collaborate with engineercolleagues within the company.
  • Maintain plans for tests to be performed, execute tests, evaluate, organize, report, and update the results on an as-needed basis.
  • Oversee the carried-out tasks and performed tests according to ULstandards.
  • Report opinions and interpretations of test results.
  • Plan, direct, and evaluate laboratory’s control policies to ensure compliance.
  • Review and revise, as needed, the Laboratory Quality Manual procedures and guidelines set forth by ISO/IEC 17025standards.
  • Maintain and control all formsof documentation, equipment, materials, and samples relating to the laboratory.
  • Ensure the new testing facilitylocatedat the back of the Elite warehouse is approved as a testing facility within 3 months.

Authorized Signatory Job Responsibilities: 

The Authorized Signatory ensures that the tests were properly performed and conducted by qualified laboratory technicians. Reviews the data package to ensure compliance with DAP requirements.

Job Description 

We are looking for a certified electrician to monitor, diagnose, and troubleshoot incoming issues with Elites products. The employee will primarily perform these tasks over the phone and email. Some jobsite visits may be required. Employee must be familiar with all types of lighting, (especially LED lighting) as well as be familiar with electrical infrastructure.

  • Monitor, diagnose, and troubleshoot all electrical systems and products over the phone and by email.

  • Handle all emails and calls on a daily basis, prioritizing urgent requests (those with strict job deadlines). 
  • Use CALL.E to enter and track all pending customer issues 
  • Complete all assigned troubleshooting jobs, installations, repairs and maintenance tasks in a timely manner 
  • Continually develop and make suggestions on how to upgrade products, dimming options, and literature.

  • Providing technical design sales support at customer meetings

Qualifications 

  • Four-year degree in engineering, lighting design, or equivalent experience required.

  • Understanding and application of the energy demand and maintenance requirements of various existing lighting systems. 
  • Has advanced experience with all aspects of lighting design, including but not limited to: analysis, revision, and commentary to specification sheets as needed. 
  • Understanding and application of the demands and requirements of retrofit solutions. 
  • General understanding of the requirements of electrical installations, circuitry, load, voltage and familiarity with electrical codes. 
  • Knowledge of IES standards, light color, color rendering, lumen maintenance, lamp life, ballast factors, system wattage, and efficacy of various systems. 
  • Ability to demonstrate the impacts of utility rates, rebates, system wattage, and operating hours in the design and development of proposed alternatives. 
  • Knowledge of the environmental, economic and quality advantages of various lighting alternatives (such as LEED program) 
  • Ability to travel 25% of the time 
  • Ability to effectively and professionally communicate verbally and in writing, to all levels of management.

Face masks are required of all employees at all times, temperature of all employees is checked on arrival, and physical social distancing is enforced. The office has plexiglass dividers installed in between workspaces as a safeguard. We supply hand sanitizer and alcohol wipes to employees.
